Q & A: Get to know Maria Angela Stivala!

‘… Director, Latin-American dance fanatic and household card-shark’

  1. How long have you been in the industry?

I’ve been in the industry for 22 years now, with the last two spent here at Quadrant Group in Malta – it’s a great environment!

  1. Can you tell us about your role in the company and what a typical day looks like for you?

I’m a Director in our Malta office, so I handle a bit of everything – no two days are ever the same, which is a fantastic position to be in. There’s a lot of client emails, payments, and coordination with Transport Malta. It’s incredibly busy, but that’s just how I like it.

  1. What is your favourite way to unwind after a long day at work?

I love reading and I love dancing! I did ballet for nine years, but Latin American dance is absolutely brilliant. My son Beppe, who’s 20, and I often play Sicilian card games together. We’ll toss some snacks in the air fryer and it makes for a wonderful family bonding time. Don’t be fooled, though – it’s highly competitive and if the score’s tied, we keep playing until there’s a winner!

  1. What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

‘Be where you belong!’ A company needs to represent the real ‘you’, and you should wake up in the morning and want to be amongst those people – if you don’t, it’s time to move on!

  1. On your dream dinner party guest list of 3, who would you bring? (Dead or alive, maximum of 3 people)

My Grandfather who was a real family-man, my idol and the perfect man……who also put up with my grandmother! 😊

Rob Lowe who I’d have so many questions for. He is a great actor, very intelligent and he has ensured a lot in Hollywood – did I mention he is also very attractive!

Einstein as his theory about using memory storage sparingly is something that intrigues me.

  1. If you did not have this job, what would your dream job be?

Probably an Air Hostess or Cruise Line worker, anything connected with travel! I’ve visited many places around the world, but Kenya has a special place in my heart after spending a month there working for a large charity project.

  1. How would your closest friends describe you in three words?

Kind-hearted, quirky and loyal.

  1. What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your career?

Stay humble and treat everyone as to how you would like to be treated.

  1. You’re marooned on a desert island with just one song to listen to – which one would you choose?

I love my music!! Right now, it would have to be between: ‘Trustfall’ by Pink or ‘The Sound of Silence’ – the Disturbed cover. I can lose myself in this song.
